Spectral Classification Guide

The 17 known Spectral races vary greatly in appearance, composition, alignment, and intelligence. This guide serves as a means of classifying and identifying Spectrals.

IMPORTANT: Recently, an event known as The Shift has lead to increased aggressive behavior among some Spectral races. Be wary of usually peaceful Spectrals acting abnormally threatening. Reasons for The Shift are unknown.

Gua
Core: A blue and purple crystallized stone.
Common Spectrals composed mostly of water. They usually take a humanoid form but can shift easily. Their “bodies” have solid components, small blue and purple stones that link the water. They are able cool quickly to ice as well, often to better protect or attack – although they are not usually adept fighters. They are generally good-willed and loyal friends.

Tor
Core: A large, dense, smooth gray stone – often marbled.
Large bipedal tribal Spectrals comprised of granite and sometimes marble. They generally stay with their own herds, non-aggressive unless provoked. They are very strong and dangerous when unfriendly – fashioning custom weapons from their massive arms. They communicate with body language and low frequency tones that can be heard across the Pampali Dessert.

Shale
Core: A jagged, silver/blue shard.
Pack hunters found throughout Pampali – well suited for most terrains. They have chosen to remain separate from civilization. They are bluish silver and comprised of jagged, bladelike shards, making them dangerous but also somewhat brittle. They can overwhelm their prey with numbers and clever tactics. Best avoided if possible.

Pon
Core: A small golden sphere.
Small in stature and unimposing, these golden Spectrals are well known as merchants and traders. Intelligent and social, they have become well-adjusted to civilization. While not capable of inflicting great harm on their own, they are very sturdy and resilient. Crossing a Pon Spectral is not recommended for you can quickly become blacklisted from their trade circles.

Vos
Core: A clear, randomly-shaped, orange crystal.
These bipedal Spectrals are comprised of blackened charred stone webbed together by light. Their skulls are made ominous, lit from within. They are adept at crafting and using weapons and prefer dark habitats as their homes. They will not hesitate to attack those who stumble upon them, and have become more aggressive recently, so keeping a distance is recommended.

Quan
Core: A black diamond-shaped rock, with a green glow.
These Spectrals are among the most dangerous known, but their numbers are few – making up a group known as the Shadow Rakaram. They are comprised mostly of a shadow-like substance that they can alter at will – both shape and consistency. While they are intelligent and sometimes interact socially with other beings, they generally stay within their own kind. They are often branded as merciless assassins but they will not kill simply for the sake or sport of it.

Cham
Core: A large dull odd-shaped multicolored stone.
These quadruped Spectrals are huge and lumbering. Their bodies are made up of large dull slabs of metallic material, which can shift around their bodies. More wise than they might appear, they are welcome diplomats and protectors in most towns and cities, integrating well with others and enjoying social atmospheres. Their size and strength is well-utilized in battle, but battling is not their preference. Cham Spectrals famously allied with the Avagarsians at the end of the War at the Gate, essentially ending the advance of the Lok Breed.

Gub
Core: A gelatinous purplish orb.
These Spectrals are territorial and battle-ready. Blob-like and purple-hued, they are deceptively fast on land and also adept in the water, which they tend to reside near. They usually have two arms for wielding weapons – but no legs. They do not interact well with other species, but do communicate using basic language.

Oam
Core: A knobby brown root-like stone, with glowing yellow “veins.”
These Spectrals are generally passive, known for their “channeling” – a deep meditation and supposed method of gaining advanced knowledge. Their most extreme feature is their “cage,” four spikes that extend out from their spine vertically with glowing yellow tips. Their cage is said to be the means to channeling, supposedly tuned in to the weather, time, events, and balance of the planet. Oam Spectrals will wear some of the same robes/clothing as Avagarsians, and co-exist amiably. Their skin is dark and has a wood-like texture, with glowing/bright yellow veins – they are bald with long limbs.

Ilm
Core: An ash colored sphere, with holes and crevices.
Ilm Spectrals are small quadrupeds comprised of ash, black stone, and steam. They are crafty and dangerous when crossed, able to attack with hot steam and sharp stone claws. They’ve been known to enter and interact within cities peacefully, but also have reputations for causing trouble. Seemingly affected by The Shift, unprovoked attacks are becoming more common.

Faw
Core: A bundle of rose-colored crystals.
These Spectrals are rare and highly desired for companionship. They are bipdedal and feminine in design. They’re bodies are semi-solid and their limbs smoke-like. They are caretakers to those who they choose to offer their compassion, and they speak with actions rather than words. They bring warmth to those around them and can be very persuasive if they choose to be.

Dak
Core: A thin black crystal shard.
These bipedal Spectrals are tall, imposing, thin, and with long limbs. They are comprised of hard metallic-like graphite-colored “bones.” They are not friendly to outsiders and are skilled fighters. They have some alliances among other Spectrals but generally dislike Avagarsians and The Shift has only made them more threatening. Avoid if possible.

Cev
Core: A large smooth off-white orb.
Cev Spectrals are elite guardians of the Elders and their artifacts. They are highly skilled and very dangerous. Their bodies are large, spherical and naturally plated with smooth white armor. They wield huge weapons with ease. Cev Spectrals are few in numbers, and non-social – they have a single purpose and that is to ensure the safety of the Elders and their invaluable artifacts.

Mim
Core: A small dark-blue horn-shaped stone.
Mim Spectrals are mischievous and elusive – small in stature and with the ability to cloak their bodies temporarily, becoming invisible to most beings. They attack with a ranged ripple attack that is not very lethal but can painfully stun. They are social in the sense that they are welcome among most other Spectrals and live in small communities. Mim Spectrals are short, thin, with dark blue skin and large black eyes on round heads. They usually carry small charms and staves. The Shift has affected them, and they are now best left alone.

Pomp
Core: A clear diamond-like gem.
Pomp Spectrals were once loyal friends and messengers of the Avargsians. Fleet-footed, with the ability to jump great distances, and climb just about any terrain, Pomp Spectrals were a reliable ally. One of the first races affected by the Shift, they removed themselves from their place along side the Avagarsians, and now live in territorial camps across the continent. They’ve maintained some elements of civility but have lost their sense of peace. Upon jumping, a dangerous thunder-like burst propels them.
